Runge Chamber of Commerce is open for business

The Runge Chamber met on Feb. 22 at the Runge Veterinary Clinic. Officers were elected as follows: Chairman – Craig Funke, Vice Chairman - Jon Waller, Secretary - Gloria Brewer and Treasurer - Jay Streeter.

Jon Waller made a presentation on the creation of the new Runge Chamber of Commerce website. The purpose behind the website is to promote businesses in Runge while developing a sense of community and communication. In an effort to promote the community, Runge board members will have business cards created and presented at the next meeting. Membership dues were approved and set as follows: Individuals: $20.00; Basic Business: $50.00, includes business name and contact information on the website; Pro-Business: $75.00 includes your company logo and mission statement on the website; Deluxe Business Package: $100.00 providing all the above along with an advertising banner for business to display upcoming events, promotions, sales, etc.

Jay Streeter reported on the Independence Day Celebration. Sponsors are needed to assist in the purchase of fireworks for the evening and trophies for the parade. Volunteers will be needed to assist in special events that are planned. The day will begin with various vendors selling homemade goods as well as: a car show, pie contest, horseshoe tournament, skeet shoot, face painting, a bounce house and a chicken dinner plate sale. Everyone is invited to join in the fun.

The next meeting is set for Tuesday, March 5 at 6 p.m.
