RHS Homecoming chock-full of ex-student activities

Numerous ex-students are expected for RHS Homecoming Friday night in Bobcat Stadium when the Bobcats meet Taft in district play.

Homecoming Week was kicked off at Refugio High School on Monday with daily activities for the students including dress up days.

The Refugio Former Students Association will host a free hot dog and drinks reception at the RHS Cafeteria at 4:30 p.m.

The classes of 1958, 1978, 1988 and 1998 have planned reunions. The class of 1958 will hold a weekend reunion that commences in Refugio on Friday night with a pre-game dinner at the Refugio VFW Hall at 4:30 p.m. The reunion will continue in Corpus Christi on Saturday and Sunday.

The class of 1978 will commence its 30-year reunion at the football game. A post-game tail-gate party is planned at Roland Jaso’s residence. Festivities will continue on Saturday. For more information, contact Valerie Sledge Norris at 361 526-1721.

The class of 1988 will meet at the football game. On Saturday, an all-alumni dance will be held from 9-1 p.m. at Padilla Hall at the fairgrounds. For additional details, call Jennifer Perez-Lara at 361 646-3131 or Sonia Castillo at 361 526-4855.

The Refugio High class of 1998 will get together for a reunion at the game. After the game, class members will meet on the back patio at the Hay Barn on SH 202..

On Saturday Oct. 25, a Class of ‘98 family-friendly picnic will be held in the Lions/Shelly Park at 3 p.m.

Saturday Night, class members will attend the all-alumni dance at Padilla Hall, at the Refugio County Fairgrounds from 9-1. A $5 fee will be charge.

The class of 1958 will tour the USS Lexington and the Texas State Aquarium and other attractions on Saturday, with free time for visiting at the Holiday Inn Emerald Beach. A Fabulous Fifties jubilee and Banquet will get underway at 6 p.m. Guest speakers will be Bill Anderson, class of 1954; and Joe Galloway, class of 1959.

An alumni breakfast begins on Sunday, Oct. 26 at 9 a.m. at Holiday Inn Emerald Beach.
