On Feb. 14, at a legally called school board meeting, the Pettus Independent School District board of trustees voted unanimously (7-0) in support of and approved a resignation agreement with the Pettus ISD superintendent, Brian Thompson. The agreement included that Mr. Thompson would resign his position as the superintendent for the Pettus ISD, effective immediately, and a payment would be made to Mr. Thompson for the total amount of $88,849. This payment equals the value of 12 months salary and benefits of Mr. Thompson’s employment contract. Mr. Thompson’s employment contract was scheduled to end on June 30, 2015.
The Pettus ISD trustees worked together to do what they believed was in the best interest of the students, parents and employees of the school district and approved the agreement. The board wishes Mr. Thompson the best of luck in his future endeavors.
Also, on Feb. 14, at the same legally called school board meeting, the Pettus ISD trustees voted unanimously (7-0) in support of and appointed Annette Sanchez as the interim superintendent of schools. Ms. Sanchez will continue her duties as principal while she serves as the interim superintendent.
The school board will be meeting in the near future to discuss conducting a superintendent search and how best to proceed regarding this process. The PISD board will continue to work together in order to make decisions that are in the best interest of the students, parents and employees of the district.
