High school football is just around the corner and it’s also time to play High School Gridiron Picks starting Friday, Aug. 30, and through the regular season.

The contest includes weekly prizes made available through local businesses and an opportunity to win a $250 grand prize.

In the HSGridironPicks, a player’s best eight weekly scores will be used to determine their overall score. The player with the top overall score will win a grand prize. Prizes for weekly winners can be found online at

To enter the contest go to to register and make picks.

Each week, participants pick who they think is going to win each game of the season. Participants have until 30 minutes before the game is scheduled to start to make their pick.

If a participant doesn’t pick a team one week, the computer will select the most picked teams.

The worst two weeks are dropped, this helps those who start late or pick poorly in the playoffs when the games are worth a lot of points.

The computer will still pick for those who don’t do it themselves, but they can’t win a prize for that week.

An asterisk is displayed next to the players that the computer picked at least one game for them for the week inside the “Public & Private Groups” section.

Participants can join in even though the season has already started. Picks going forward will be counted toward the score.

Since the worst weeks are thrown out, the remaining weeks will count toward the overall score.

Starting after the third week is fine, but after five weeks players who start up will be behind in terms of the overall season but can still win a prize for an individual week.
