New chorus season will open Sept. 4

The Beeville Community Chorus will begin its 37th season on Tuesday, Sept. 4, at 7 p.m. in Room B-120 in the Gertrude R. Jones Fine Arts Building at Coastal Bend College. Everyone who enjoys singing is invited to join the Beeville Community Chorus.

Membership dues for adults is $25 per semester or $45 for the year. High school students are eligible join at $15 per semester or $25 for the year. The choir also has member dues scholarships available for high school students.

Nona Schrop is the accompanist; Dr. James Lee is the artistic director, and Jeff Brewer is the assistant director.

Dr. Lee has announced the choir’s performance schedule for the 2012-2013 Concert Season. The choir will be presenting its third Renaissance Madrigal Feast and play on Thursday and Friday, Nov. 16-17. The choir will present its annual Christmas Concert at the historic mission located in Goliad State Park on Saturday, Dec. 1, and will also repeat the concert at Coastal Bend College on Tuesday, Dec. 4. The choir also will be performing at the community Advent Service at the Faith Lutheran Church in Beeville on Sunday, Dec. 2.

Spring 2013 will be a busy time for the choir. The first meeting and rehearsal in the new year will be Tuesday, Jan. 15. The choir will begin rehearsing new repertoire preparing for its annual Talent Show and dinner event on Saturday, March 23. The choir will travel to George West on Saturday, April 13, for a performance in the Dobie Theater. The last concert of the season will the spring concert at the historic mission at Goliad State Park on Saturday, April 20.

More information about each concert will be released later. Everyone is encouraged to place these dates on their calendars and attend the concerts in support of the community chorus.
