The first win of the best of three series with the undefeated Aransas Pass boys was a five-inning, 10-0 victory for the local team.
Beeville got its first run in the top of the first on a couple of consecutive two-out singles. Cole Terry got the rally going with a base hit to left center. Terry then stole second base to get into scoring position with Derek Castillo at the plate. Castillo brought him home with a sharp single to right field.
The two teams’ pitching and defense were the stars over the next two innings as both failed to score. It was still a 1-0 contest heading into the top of the fourth.
Beeville exploded for seven runs in the fourth to take command of the game. Castillo, Jimmy Arguijo, Seth Gomez, Nathan Treviño, Matthew Perez, Domingo Maturey and Carlos Escamilla scored in that frame for the Beeville boys. That made it an 8-0 contest.
Two more Beeville runs crossed the plate in the top of the fifth as Perez singled to lead off the inning. Two straight walks to Gomez and Treviño loaded the bases and then a pop up to the infield got one out, but a couple of throwing errors by the AP defense helped the local squad score two of their three runners for the 10-0 margin.
Escamilla was on the mound for Beeville, and he faced just four batters in the final inning, mowing down three to get the 10-run rule win for the young Beeville boys. Escamilla finished the night with eight strikeouts and allowed just three hits in his five-inning stint.
The Friday game results were not submitted, but it is known that the Beeville club again decidedly defeated the team from Aransas Pass
With the two wins, the Beeville minor boys advance to the sectional tournament to be held in Beeville beginning on Friday. The Beeville club will play at 6 p.m. against the winner of District 31 who is yet to be determined.
