This is my mother's, Georgia Robinson McCollom, dance studio. The studio was built around 1929 on my grandmother's property. This was located on the corner of E St Mary's and N Polk St. The dance studio was in business from the time it was built until around 1943. One of mother's dance students was the movie star, Georgia Carroll. Miss Carroll came to the studio seeking new dance steps from my mother. Later, Georgia Carroll was the lead singer in the Kay Kaiser Big Band. Miss Carroll also played as Betsy Ross in the James Cagney musical Yankee Doodle Dandy in 1942. Mom also made the dance costumes for the students. The house to the left of the studio is still standing in the same location which was my grandmother Robinson's.
