All three sets were competitive, but the hometown girls fought all the way to the end to emerge victorious in all three close sets.
Set one was a nail-biter. The final had the Lady Eagles on top 25-22. Randi Arrisola and Madi Garza led the way offensively with kills at and over the net. The second set was a little easier as the scoreboard had the Lady Eagles winning 25-18 for a 2-0 lead in the match. The third set had the Pettus girls winning 25-16 over the Badgers to complete the sweep.
Garza played well, finishing with 10 kills, 14 assists and two blocks for the Lady Eagles. Defensive specialist Destiny Carrillo came up with 14 digs over three sets. Arrisola contributed nine kills, nine assists and two blocks for the Lady Eagles. Hana Kruger added three kills and five big blocks against the Badgers.
“It was an overall great team effort. Everyone did their job. We were excited over the victory and are working hard to keep our game at this level,” said Pettus head coach Erica Garza.
The Lady Eagles played host to Prairie Lea on Tuesday night and will take on the Shiner St. Paul girls on Friday at 5:30 p.m.
