Jim Pilgrim, age 78, of Whitsett, Texas, passed away Tuesday, May 14, 2013 in San Antonio, Texas.  Jim Pilgrim was born in Dublin, Texas on March 2, 1935; he graduated from Somerset High School.  Mr. Pilgrim was married to Theo Cheatham on July 12, 1958; they were married 54 years. He was the founder of Southwest Fire Protection in 1968. Today, his children, grandsons and Johnny Campbell have grown this company to be one of San Antonio's finest companies.  Mr. Pilgrim enjoyed coaching and playing church softball and being a deacon as well as a youth leader of RA's.  Jim also enjoyed playing cards with his grandchildren and friends, playing family board games, dominos, reading, watching thunderstorms, playing practical jokes, match making, rescuing animals, watching comedy and western TV shows, watching the beach and airplanes, he also was a Dallas Cowboys fan and San Antonio Spurs fan.  Most of all loved to help others and spend quality time with his loved ones.

Mr. Pilgrim is survived by his wife, Theo Pilgrim of Whitsett, sons, Jess Pilgrim and wife Pam of San Antonio, George Pilgrim and wife Lisa of San Antonio, Charlie Pilgrim and wife Krystal of Pleasanton, Mike Pilgrim and wife Brooke of San Antonio, Ronnie Pilgrim and wife Mandy of San Antonio, daughters, Rhonda Mylnar and husband Rick of Jourdanton, honorary daughter, Angie Bennink of San Antonio, grandchildren, Ty Mylnar, Jake Mylnar, Kahlie Pilgrim Kitchen and husband Cody, Shannon Pilgrim, Luke Pilgrim, Mackenzie Pilgrim, Preston Pilgrim, Pierson Pilgrim, Ella Pilgrim, Emily Pilgrim, Sloan Pilgrim, honorary grandchildren, Garrett Bennink, and Zoey Bennink , great-grandchildren, Rylee Pilgrim Kitchen and honorary great-grandchildren, Kylee Bennink, brother, Richard Pilgrim and wife Martha of Orange Grove, sister, Donna Campbell of Three Rivers, brother and sister-in-laws, Harvey and Edwina Harkins, Ronnie and Cleo New, Leslie and Annabelle Cheatham.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Wilson and Alma Pilgrim, grandparents, Henry and Carrie Pilgrim, Charles and Hazel Nash, In-laws, Charlie and Hezzie Cheatham, brother, Mike Gatlin, brothers-in-laws, Billy Campbell and Otto Huggins and sister in law, Charlene Huggins, nieces and nephews, Amy Huggins, Roman Huggins and Ashton Huggins, aunts and uncles, Jess Pilgrim and wife Marge, Frances Hazzard and husband Rube, Mamie Gatlin and husband Earl.

Visitation was held at Hurley Funeral Home Chapel, 118 W. Oaklawn Rd., Pleasanton, Texas, from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Friday, May 17, 2013.  A funeral service was held at Whitsett Baptist Church at 1:00 PM, Saturday, May 18, 2013.  Interment was at Cheatham Family Cemetery, Whitsett, Texas.
