GOLIAD – First-year Goliad volleyball head coach Jess Morris was happy with what she saw Friday and Saturday as her Tigerettes competed in two days of scrimmages.

“We had a hard week of practice and they looked pretty sharp for the first week,” Morris said.

The Tigerettes welcome back five starters - Avery Zamzow, Sydney Morris, Ashtin Zamzow, Shanna Elliott, and Kayla Friend.

Class 2A Goliad will open the season Friday at the San Antonio Wagner Tournament, where the Tigerettes will see Class 5A and 4A competition.

“We did improve a lot from Friday to Saturday,” Morris said. “We’re working pretty hard on a bunch of plays now this week. I’m hoping we can really get it together and have no miscommunications.
