De Luna celebrated his graduation on Aug. 17 with a gathering of family members and friends hosted by his wife, Anita De Luna, and son, Emesto De Luna Jr.
“It was an amazing educational journey, especially studying with students from all over the world,” De Luna said. “The main reason to pursue my education to a higher level was to show my nine grandchildren the importance of an education in today’s society. It is also a good lesson for all those who are my age, that it is never too late to pursue your goals. A person can lose everything they have, but there is something no one can ever take away from you, and that is your education.”
De Luna continues to be part of the Mathis Independent School District administrative team.
