There was a full Commissioners Court with all members present, a courtroom full of spectators and cheerleaders group rooting for an applicant who was not selected.
One of the speakers claimed that the applicant of their choice was well qualified with several certifications. The speaker was mistaken or misinformed. Out of all those present in the courtroom, only two are certified veterans service officers. Commissioner (Dennis) DeWitt and Mr. (Roy) Galvan were former VSO’s in Bee County. The only way to certify is to be employed as a VSO by the county and attend the certification classes.
The people claiming to have approved or written a letter of recommendation on behalf of a veteran should have allowed the writer to sign the letter, instead of rubber stamping it. Apparently, the writer did not have the gumption to stand and deliver his or her signature on the letter of recommendation.
Bee County could have had a VSO before now. He could have been certified and helping veterans with needs in Bee County – not just wants being promoted with animosity or retaliation by a few.
Such a waste of talent. If they are so knowledgeable, they should run to be members of the Commissioners Court.
